History and Tradition
From its foundation in 1896 the County Kildare Golf Club, has grown in size from its original nine holes to its now eighteen holes, and the membership has multiplied. From the initial membership of three ladies and seventeen gentlemen it has this year reached a total of 1000 members of which 300 are ladies.
When the club affiliated to the Irish Golfers’ Union in 1907, the 9 hole course was at the Decoy, just outside of Naas. It was to move 3 more times finally setting at Kerdiffstown in 1941. During the following years the links has been expanded to a full 18, and the club-house completely transformed. The County Kildare Club is one of the oldest provincial clubs in Ireland, and with increasing years come increasing strength and vitality.
